After a thrilling first game of the 2026 NBA Finals, the Knicks and Spurs will return to action on Friday night for a pivotal Game 2.
Behind Jalen Brunson’s 30-point performance, the Knicks stormed back in the second half, overcoming a double-digit deficit to take Game 1 on the road. Brunson led the charge in the final frame, but he got plenty of help from Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby throughout the series opener.
Now, the pressure is on the Spurs to even up the series before it shifts to Madison Square Garden. Victor Wembanyama had 26 points in Game 1, but he will need to be more efficient after shooting 6-of-21 from the field.

11:25 p.m.: The New York Knicks have won both games in San Antonio to take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Wembanyama had a shot to win the game, but his good look goes long, and New York holds on. It’s a one-point victory, but the Knicks did the most important thing.
The team held off the San Antonio surge, and the Knicks have won 13 straight. But, the last two are the most important, and it has the New York Knicks two wins away from a NBA championship.
11:23 p.m.: Brunson makes 1 of 2 and San Antonio gets the rebound. Johnson calls a timeout, and the Spurs will have a chance to win the game with seven seconds left.
11:22 p.m.: Jalen Brunson missed his go-ahead shot, but he still is giving the Knicks a chance to pull ahead. After the miss, Wembanyama passes to Castle, who wasn’t looking, and Brunson is there for the steal. Then, Brunson is fouled by Wembanyama to send him to the line.
What a turnaround with 10 seconds left.
11:20 p.m.: It’s New York ball with 30 seconds to go.
Who is going to take the final shot for the Knicks?
11:18 p.m.: The Knicks needed a shot, and it’s Brunson who provides it.
On Champagnie, he drives in and hits a shot from the right side to tie it up at 104 with 39 seconds left. The Spurs call a timeout.
This game is coming down to the wire. Buckle up.
11:17 p.m.: The Spurs have the lead for the first time this half.
After a stop, Harper finds Wembanyama who finishes the bucket with the foul. It’s 104-102 with 57 seconds to go.
11:12 p.m.: While it was ruled out of bounds by the Knicks, Mike Brown and the Knicks challenged Anunoby got fouled by Champagnie, and it’s overturned.
Anunoby makes all three to retake the lead.
11:09 p.m.: This game is tied, with Harper going right to the rim to make it a 14-0 run. It’s 97-97 with less than three minutes left.
11:06 p.m.: San Antonio has scored nine straight points to get within five with a Wembanyama layup. After a seven-point first half, the Spurs star is up to 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting.
11:04 p.m.: The Spurs are back to single digits, with Fox hitting a big three to make it 97-88. San Antonio is still in this one with 5:26 remaining.
10:57 p.m.: The Knicks bench has come alive. Now, it’s McBride who hits a three to extend the lead to 12.
Even with starters in foul trouble, the Knicks offense has not gone away. Whether McBride, Shamet or Robinson, Mike Brown’s bench has been crucial to a late lead.
With 6:45 to go, it’s 95-83
10:55 p.m.: Hart is up to five fouls on the night after going up for a rebound. With 7:45 remaining, he comes out of the game and McBride comes in.
Hart is yet to score tonight.
10:49 p.m.: Landry Shamet has stepped up again.
With momentum on San Antonio’s side, Shamet hits a three from the left corner to extend the Knicks lead to eight. It forces Johnson to call a timeout.
There’s just over eight minutes remaining.
10:48 p.m.: It’s a five-point game, with Harper’s layup capping a 7-0 run.
The Spurs crowd is back into the game with New York 1-for-8 from the field this quarter.
10:47 p.m.: It’s getting chippy in San Antonio.
After Fox fouls Brunson, the two get close and eye each other down before being separated.
End of the third quarter: Knicks 84, Spurs 75
10:40 p.m.: At the end of three, the Knicks lead by nine. Led by Bridges and four players off the bench in Shamet, McBride, Mitchell Robinson and Jose Alvarado, New York closed the half on a run to get the lead back near double digits.
San Antonio needs something fast, or it risks being in a 0-2 hole heading to New York.
10:37 p.m.: With New York leading 80-73, Bridges hits a shot from the elbow and he’s red hot.
The Knicks wing is up to 20 on the night.
10:31 p.m.: The teams are going back and forth and the Spurs now are down only four.
Wembanyama hits a three, then Anunoby quickly gets a tough finish and then Castle does the same on the other end.
The Knicks lead 76-72.
10:28 p.m.: Right in front of the basket, Towns gets called for his fourth foul on a controversial call.
New York is without Towns and Hart right now, giving the Spurs a chance for a run.
10:25 p.m.: The Knicks lead is 11, with Shamet canning a three to make it 70-59.
Wembanyama gets a much needed tip-in on the other end.
10:22 p.m.: The Spurs needed a basket bad, and it’s Fox who delivers.
In transition, Fox goes right to the cup and makes a layup on Hart. It’s a foul and the basket, and maybe more important, Hart’s fourth foul. He heads to the bench and Shamet comes in.
10:18 p.m.: So far, the third has belonged to the Knicks.
Brunson hits a three to get up to 13 on the night as New York stretches the lead to 10. Through three minutes, San Antonio has one basket.
10:14 p.m.: The second half has begun in San Antonio, with the Knicks leading by four.
Towns picks up right where he left off, getting an offensive rebound and putting the ball in.
Halftime: Knicks 56, Spurs 52
9:57 p.m.: A possession after Bridges gives the Knicks the lead, he finds Towns for a wide open three and the Knicks lead by four at halftime.
New York trailed by as much as 12, but they go to the locker room up 54-52. Even with slow halfs from Brunson, the Knicks find themselves ahead behind 17 and 7 from Towns.
Wembanyama has only 7 points while Fox leads the Spurs with 12.
9:47 p.m.: Bridges is 3-for-3 from deep, hitting a corner three as time expires to make it a one-point San Antonio lead.
Then, after a Spurs miss, Landry shamet gets by Wembanyama to make a layup and the Knicks have the lead for the first time tonight.
But, its short lived, with Vassell making a three and getting fouled by Brunson, so he’ll head to the line.
9:43 p.m.: Now, Robinson gets called for a technical foul after a slight shove on Wembanyama.
Wembanyama hits the free throw.
9:42 p.m.: It’s a major moment in the game, with Devin Vassell stealing the bal from Josh Hart and Hart tripping him. It was rule a flagrant one foul, sending Vassell to the line.
He hits one of them to make it 46-42 and the Spurs have possession.
9:37 p.m.: Harper had a fast break but it was stuffed by Anunoby, then on the other end Bridges hits another three, and San Antonio leads by only two halfway through the second.
9:31 p.m.: The Knicks are back within three, with Bridges hitting a three pointer in the corner for his first basket of the game.
It comes at a big time, and the game is now 42-39.
9:28 p.m.: Fox is having a game.
Now, he gets by Deuce McBride then gets the basket to go while getting fouled. He hits the free throw and is up to 12 points, and it’s 42-34 Spurs.
9:24 p.m.: Towns is in double figures, and he dunks over Wembanyama to cap off a 7-0 Knicks run to cut the lead to five.
End of the first quarter: Spurs 34, Knicks 25
9:16 p.m.: Wembanyama drives through and makes a layup to give the Spurs a nine-point lead. At the other end, Brunson misses as the buzzer expires.
At the end of one, it’s the Spurs who have responded to the bell, knowing the stakes. Fox already has nine points, which is more than he had all of last game; San Antonio has seven players who have scored.
9:11 p.m.: Fox, who only had seven points in Game 1, hits a three to extend the San Antonio lead to eight.
The Spurs are 4-for-8 from deep this quarter.
9:06 p.m.: With less than three minutes left, San Antonio leads by five after a Vassell tough layup.
9:05 p.m.: Mitchell Robinson has shot the ball poorly at the free throw line, and now he has a broken pinky to add onto the difficulties.
But, he makes one of two here to cut the Spurs lead to three.
9:00 p.m.: After a Dylan Harper jam over Towns, the Spurs lead by seven — until Towns hits a three to cut the lead to four.

It’s 20-16.
8:54 p.m.: With 5:46 remaining in the first, the Spurs lead 17-13.
Stephon Castle will head to the line out of the break. Champagnie and Brunson are tied for the game lead with eight points.
8:50 p.m.: Julian Champagnie had 16 points in Game 1 and is hot to start, hitting two threes, the second one banked in.
Then, O.G. Anunoby makes a three of his own to make it 13-10 San Antonio.
8:45 p.m.: The Spurs and Knicks exchange makes to open the game.
First, Devin Vassell hits a triple, then on the other end Jalen Brunson makes a tough jumper. It’s 3-2 and we’re off and running.
8:43 p.m.: The teams have tipped off and we are underway in San Antonio.

Wembanyama had 26 points in the Game 1 loss, but on 6-for-21 shooting. He needs a much better shooting performance tonight as the Spurs look to even the series.

Even after leaving the game for a brief period with a knee injury, Brunson scored a game-high 30 points, which included a personal 8-0 run in the fourth quarter to put the Knicks ahead.
