Kim Kardashian’s Phone Call to Lewis Hamilton After Barcelona GP Win Says Everything

Lewis Hamilton had just crossed the finish line nearly 20 seconds clear of George Russell to claim his first Formula 1 victory in Ferrari red, ending a 686-day winless streak. The first person to get through to him wasn’t a journalist, a team principal, or a sponsor. It was Kim Kardashian, on FaceTime, on speaker, in the middle of the media pen.

The moment was captured and shared by F1 photojournalist Kym Illman on X, who wrote:

“Fresh from his victory in Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton made his way to the media pen with a very familiar name on the other end of a FaceTime call. Kim Kardashian appeared on speaker.”

Hamilton stood there in his Ferrari kit, phone in both hands, visibly beaming, while the pen churned around him.

Kardashian’s voice spoke. “I can’t believe it.” “You killed it!” “We’re so proud of you.” “We’re so excited!” Hamilton’s response to her opening question of how he was feeling? Per Illman’s account: “Unreal.”

What the Win Actually Meant

Hamilton secured his 106th Grand Prix victory through an aggressive undercut strategy, a well-timed Virtual SafetyCar stop, and a commanding drive in the closing stages – his first win in Ferrari colours, coming 686 days after his 2024 Belgian Grand Prix triumph.

The race also produced a historic podium, with Hamilton, Russell, and Norris becoming the first all-British trio to share a Formula 1 rostrum since Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, and John Surtees at the 1968 United States Grand Prix.

Hamilton later described the win as one of the most emotional of his career, admitting there were moments when he feared success with Ferrari might never arrive. He has also pushed forward significantly in his 2026 title attack: the 25 points, combined with Kimi Antonelli‘s retirement, pulled Hamilton firmly back into contention.

Kardashian’s involvement in Hamilton’s 2026 season has also become one of its running storylines. She appeared in the F1 paddock for the first time at the Monaco weekend, spending time in the Ferrari garage and around Port Hercules.

After that race – a second-place finish – Hamilton said: “Yeah, it’s amazing to have her come this weekend and have her support. My friends [in general]. It was an incredible turnout overall. I don’t know what else to say. It’s amazing to have good people around you and supporting you. And she does that for me every day.”

At 41, he is now the oldest Grand Prix winner since Jack Brabham in 1970.
