Khosla Family's first presser: Deference & white throwback uniforms

The Seattle Seahawksheld an introductory press conference for the Khosla Family Wednesday morning just six hours before they’re set to open the 2026 NFL Season tonight.

Vinod Khosla briefly introduced himself, his wife Neeru, and his son Neal to the Seahawks’ media gathering before handling questions on a wide range of topics. In one response, Vinod clarified that all three will operate interchangeably in their controlling ownership role as a family. He also mentioned that they’re “a very, very close family,” and that they have all lived in the same house since 1986.

From there, the press asked about their plan for business dealings, which Vinod consistently stated he’d defer to the people who are “executing” on. One of many great quotes he had on this concern was, “the people in charge of executing should have the baton to make the decision, because if they haven’t made the decision, they won’t be as committed to it.” That management style applies directly to football and sounds like something a coach would say about their locker room’s culture. If he prioritizes buy-in as much as he says he will, the organization might not miss a beat from its relatively rosy recent history.

Khosla’s immediate deferral to the football minds in Seattle speaks volumes about his reverence for the brand. He managed to praise the stewardship of both previous ownership groups, the Nordstrom Family and the Allen Family, while maintaining a vibe of optimism for the future. They even took an easy layup, answering “yes” when asked if they’d bring back the white throwback uniforms fans have been clamoring for. At the end of the day, fans, investors, players and coaches want someone who respects the game and has the cerebral nature to communicate with all the necessary parties, and the Khoslas were savvy to that today.

When asked what traits make up an ideal Seahawks player, Neal said, “I think it’s too early, I think that’s John and Mike stuff.” Neal has a background as a football operations intern with the San Francisco 49ers, which he was also asked about, but he echoed the self-awareness of Vinod rather than inserting his own scouting philosophy. That’s not a given when someone buys a team for $9.612 billion dollars, but the Khosla family’s message has been crystal clear: they want to keep the business running successfully, not reinvent it.
