Kenneth Walker under fire for ignoring former Seahawks teammates after Chiefs first loss in 2026

· · 2 min read

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker III faced off against his Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks teammates for the first time since leaving the squad.

Walker III won Super Bowl MVP for his performances for the Seahawks to bring the city another Super Bowl title in 2026, but it did not guarantee his future with the franchise, as they chose to let him walk in free agency and join the Chiefs on a three-year, $43.05 million contract.

Walker’s exit did not happen as amicably as either party would have liked, and it seems like the 26-year-old RB is still holding onto harsh feelings, as evidenced by the end of the Chiefs’ 20-3 loss to Seattle.

After rushing for 14 carries and a season-low 36 yards, Walker went straight to the locker room after the game instead of shaking hands with his former teammates, who handed Kansas City their first loss of the season.

Walker came under fire from NFL fans for doing this, especially after a one-sided loss.

“That’s just sad, man. They didn’t mistreat him in his time in Seattle,” said one fan.

“Bro saw Schneider lurking on the sidelines with his ballcap and suit and said nah,” said a fan, believing the presence of Seahawks President John Schneider caused Walker to run off.

“I thought this was an odd exit. Why so salty?” questioned a fan.

“That was a bad look. Kenneth has lots of friends on that team that truly love him. Why would he just run away? Bad sportsmanship on his part. I thought better of him than that. Very disappointing,” said another fan.

“I’ll always love K9, but ya gotta be a man and shake your former teammates’ hands after getting smoked,” were the thoughts of another fan.

Walker spent his final months as a Seahawk wondering if he would even get a contract offer from the franchise after winning Super Bowl MVP. He never wound up receiving one, with the Chiefs signing Walker on the first day of free agency.

That outcome might have created bad feelings towards Schneider, who was also on the field at the end of the game. With Walker interacting with his teammates before the game, it is plausible he skipped the post-game handshakes to avoid interacting with the Seahawks President after how they parted ways.

Walker has had a great start to the 2026 NFL season, rushing for 701 yards in 120 carries for six touchdowns while catching 18 receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
