Kelton’s McManus voted Globe-News Girls Athlete of the Year, presented by Happy State Bank

After multiple rounds of voting, the readers have spoken.

Kelton girls track standout McKinzi McManus is the 2025-26 Happy State Bank Girls High School Athlete of the Year.

McManus brought in 33,662 of the 72,977 votes that were cast by readers, making up 46.1% of all votes received.

Borger wrestler Lila Breedlove was second with 12,671 votes and Vega basketball’s Khloe Griffit was third with 7,452 votes.

McManus captured five medals at the Miami Warrior Relays, winning the high jump, long jump and triple jump and finishing third in the 100 and 200 when she won Athlete of the Week in March.

Weekly voting lasted throughout the school year and produced 35 Athletes of the Week. Voting was broken down over multiple weeks beginning June 1 and will run Monday through Thursday each week, alternating weeks between boys finalists and girls finalists.

Voting for the Happy State Bank team of the year will begin Monday, July 13.
