Kebbi: Hisbah arrests man hiding inside bag at married woman’s house

Operatives of the Hisbah Board in Kebbi State have arrested a man allegedly found hiding inside a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

The arrest was confirmed by the Director of Sharia at the board, Sirajo Kamba, in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday.

Kamba said residents alerted Hisbah around 12:15 a.m on Monday after noticing suspicious movement at the woman’s residence.

According to him, the community suspected an illicit relationship and reported the matter to authorities.

He said Hisbah officers were deployed to the scene after receiving the report, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside the house.

Kamba added that the woman later granted access, leading to a search of the premises where the suspect was discovered concealed inside a ‘Ghana-Must-Go bag.

He said further investigation indicated an alleged romantic relationship between the man and the married woman.

Both suspects reportedly admitted to the allegation during interrogation and are expected to be arraigned in court under Islamic law, according to the board.

The Hisbah official said the case remains under investigation.
