KC Concepcion entered the preseason looking for an opportunity to prove his versatility could translate to the NFL. It didn’t take long for the young wide receiver to make his presence felt.

Concepcion was one of the biggest offensive standouts of the first half, contributing as a receiver, return specialist and runner while giving his coaching staff another glimpse at the different ways he could impact an offense.

His biggest moment came on a 14-yard jet sweep that resulted in his first NFL touchdown. Concepcion took the handoff, turned the corner and found the end zone, showcasing the speed and open-field ability that made him a dangerous playmaker at the college level.

But the touchdown was only part of his productive performance.

Concepcion caught three passes for 27 yards, providing a reliable target in the passing game. His ability to create separation and gain yards after the catch gave the offense another dimension and demonstrated why he could become an intriguing weapon from the slot.

Concepcion’s versatility was on full display

He also made an impact on special teams.

Concepcion returned a punt 31 yards, flipping field position and showing the explosiveness that could help him earn an immediate role. For young receivers battling for roster positioning, special teams contributions can often be the difference between making the team and being left on the outside.

Concepcion appears to understand that opportunity.

His first-half performance demonstrated exactly why his versatility could become valuable. Whether catching passes, taking handoffs on designed runs or returning punts, Concepcion showed he doesn’t necessarily need a traditional offensive role to influence a game.

Preseason performances don’t guarantee regular-season success, but they can create opportunities.

Concepcion took advantage of his.

With roster decisions approaching and competition increasing, the rookie provided coaches with plenty to evaluate — and perhaps more importantly, several reasons to continue putting the football in his hands.

If his first-half showing was any indication, Concepcion could be developing into one of the more intriguing young weapons to watch as the preseason continues.
