Kano merges Water Resources, Environment ministries

The Kano State Government has merged the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change into a single ministry as part of efforts to improve efficiency in governance.

The new arrangement means that both ministries will now operate under one umbrella known as the Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change.

The commissioner of the ministry, Dahir M. Hashim, confirmed the development in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Monday.

He said the decision was approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as part of government reforms aimed at strengthening service delivery.

“I am pleased to announce that His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the merger of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change into a single ministry, now known as the Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change,” Hashim said.
