Sitting in Jogana, the court issued the order while continuing proceedings in the case involving Yusuf and four others accused of conspiracy and attempted sorcery. The court said it could not deliver judgment as earlier scheduled on Monday because government lawyers were expected to participate in the proceedings.

The judge, Malam Kamalu Haruna, explained that he had adjourned the case to Thursday, September 17, 2026, and ordered that the first to fourth defendants remain in custody until then.

According to the judge, the directive to the Kano State Correctional Service was to ensure that Yusuf received adequate medical attention and special care while in custody.

The Kano State Police Command charged Abdurrahman Abbas Kwasamgwami Gezawa, Sha’aibu Yawale Daganawa Bunkure, Abubakar Iliyasu Zangon Dakata, Ishaq Isah Rano and Yusuf Mahmud Rano with the offences, saying the defendants had pleaded guilty at the previous sitting.
