Kano Consumer Protection Council seizes counterfeit goods worth over N300m

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) says it has confiscated counterfeit and substandard goods valued at more than N300 million over the past three months as part of its ongoing enforcement operations across the state.

The disclosure was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the agency’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Jamilu Mustapha Yakasai.

According to the statement, the Executive Secretary of the council, Dr Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, revealed the figure during a meeting with members of staff, where he reviewed the agency’s recent activities and urged greater commitment to its mandate.

Dr Muhammad reaffirmed the council’s resolve to sustain its campaign against the production, distribution and sale of fake and substandard products, stressing that offenders would not be spared.

He also directed staff to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering to identify individuals involved in the trafficking of counterfeit goods, while ensuring that those arrested are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
