Kano Assembly confirms former speaker, governor’s spokesperson as commissioners
The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of former Speaker, Balarabe Sa’idu Gani, and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Ahmad Bature Dawakin Tofa, as commissioners.
The confirmation followed their screening during Tuesday’s plenary session, presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
Governor Yusuf had forwarded their names to the Assembly for consideration to fill vacancies in the Ministries of Information and Solid Minerals.
Speaking to journalists after his screening, Bature said he would prioritise the revival of state-owned media organisations if appointed Commissioner for Information.
He said, “My priority will be to revive the operations of Kano Radio, expand the number of channels operated by ARTV and provide adequate manpower and equipment to enable Triumph Newspaper to resume daily publication.”
Bature added that strengthening the state-owned media organisations would improve their capacity to serve the people of Kano State.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Assembly, Jibril Isma’il Falgore, congratulated Balarabe Sa’idu Gani on securing the governor’s approval and the Assembly’s confirmation.
He also expressed confidence in the new commissioners as they prepare to assume their respective responsibilities.
