Juventus complete signing of Bosnia-Herzegovina wonderkid Alajbegovic

Juventus have completed a deal worth up to €40m to sign Bosnia-Herzegovina’s teenage winger Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bianconeri are preparing for their first full Serie A campaign under Luciano Spalletti, having narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last term.

Prior to Alajbegovic’s arrival being announced on Sunday, they had already completed deals to sign Zeki Celik, Jeremie Boga and Jeff Ekhator. 

Lois Openda’s loan from RB Leipzig was made permanent after a purchase clause was activated, but the Belgian was immediately loaned to Lyon following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign in which he only scored one Serie A goal.

Juventus chief executive Giovanni Carnevali had already publicly confirmed the club’s interest in Alajbegovic, and he has now signed a five-year contract with the Turin giants.

Alajbegovic, who was on loan at Austrian Bundesliga side Salzburg in 2025-26, appeared in all four of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s games at the World Cup, as they reached the round of 32.

He scored one goal and led all his team-mates for dribbles attempted (18) and completed (10), while also registering the joint-most chances created (four, alongside Esmir Bajraktarevic and Ivan Basic).

A club statement welcoming the 18-year-old to the club said: “A wide attacking player capable of operating on either side of the pitch and equally competent with each foot, Alajbegovic arrives in Turin after an impressive season in Austria with Salzburg. 

“There, he played an important part and accumulated 44 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 times and providing a further four assists.

“Despite his young age, Kerim has already established himself at international level too. A bright talent with a big personality and huge promise, he is now ready to show his worth in our colours.”

The winger told Juventus’ social media channels: “I’m ready for Serie A, I’m ready for Italian football.

“When you play for the biggest team in Italy, you need honour, and you need to work very hard to improve.”

Juventus open their 2026-27 Serie A campaign against Frosinone on August 23, with friendlies against Chelsea, Inter and Palermo to come before then.
