Jürgen Klopp explains omission of Deniz Undav from the German national football team

· · 1 min read

Jürgen Klopp revealed that he had picked four strikers for Germany’s forthcoming international matches, and the notable omission was VfB Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav. The 59-year-old gaffer said in a recent press release that the 30-year-old is not “in form.”

“I spoke with Deniz. He has had a few minor issues so far, but he hasn’t really found his rhythm in the season yet either,” Klopp said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “I wanted to pick four strikers, and for the moment, I decided to go with the others.”

When Klopp announced the squad(s) for Germany’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, the combined number of players across the two teams went over 40 because he wanted to get a feel of the current starters and hopefuls who could break into the team. The strikers that Klopp called up are Jonathan Burkardt and Younes Ebnoutalib (both Eintracht Frankfurt), Kai Havertz (Arsenal), and Nick Woltemade (Juventus, on loan from Newcastle United).
