Julian Ward handed bargain opportunity to sign record-breaker for Liverpool

Liverpool have already gone through a lot of change this season.

They’ve replaced their manager, their sporting director and have brought in over £150 million worth of players.

However, after they were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City on Sunday, it’s clear that some more change is needed.

Admittedly, the game was fairly even before Ryan Gravenberch got himself sent off after his second yellow card-worthy challenge but, from that point on, things went pear-shaped.

This has led fans to ask their club to add even more new players to their ranks with former targets now re-emerging as potential options for Liverpool to explore.

But, luckily for Liverpool, they may have just been handed an unreal opportunity to actually get a deal done.

Gilberto Mora has a £21m release clause in his contract

One of the main players to have been linked with a Liverpool move in the summer was Gilberto Mora.

The Mexico international made history by becoming the youngest Mexican to debut in a World Cup.

And, while he may not have managed to get a goal or assist, you could tell that the 17-year-old was already playing way beyond his years.

However, thanks to his impressive performances for Club Tijuana and Mexico, most of the world’s biggest clubs want to sign him.

But, since Liverpool are proving that youngsters actually get a chance in their starting XI this season, it feels like Julian Ward has a bit of an advantage.

And, this latest update about Mora’s release clause from El Porvenir is exactly what Liverpool will have wanted to hear.

“Premier League side Arsenal have approached Tijuana ‘s management to open talks about a possible signing of Gilberto Mora next January, while Manchester City’s attacking midfielder, Rayan Cherki, is on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar,” they wrote.

“The Mexican international has a $28 million release clause in his contract and is also attracting interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica.”

Gilberto Mora could become Liverpool’s next Philippe Coutinho

Mora may only be 17 but, with how good he’s already proven that he is, it’s clear that he needs to shoot for the stars.

The 17-year-old has contributed to six goals in the Liga MX this term while being used as an attacking midfielder and a winger.

No matter where the youngster is played, he’s always managed to have a positive impact on the way things have panned out with Tijuana which, was the same with Philippe Coutinho.

The preferred position of both players is number 10 but, the fact that they are versatile enough to be played on the wing is a massive bonus.

Indeed, Liverpool already have a player like this in Florian Wirtz but, with Real Madrid now scouting him, the German’s future is unclear.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen but, for now, the £21 million release clause for Mora feels like too strong of a deal for them to turn down.
