Journalist claims Manchester United are eyeing potential transfer of experienced defender
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a transfer move for Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae, though he wants to stay at the Allianz Arena.
The South Korea international is an experienced defender who’s had a fine career at the highest level, having shone for Bayern and for previous club Napoli.
Kim is no longer first choice at Bayern but it seems he’s happy with his role in Vincent Kompany’s squad despite the interest from Man Utd, according to Christian Falk in his latest CF Bayern Insider column.

Falk says the Red Devils have a long-standing interest in Kim, and one imagines Michael Carrick would benefit from bringing in extra depth at the back this summer.
Still, it seems this is unlikely due to Kim’s preference being to stay at Bayern.
Kim Min-jae appreciated by Manchester United but not likely to move
Discussing the 29-year-old’s future, Falk said: “There is some truth to reports around Manchester United’s interest in Min-jae Kim.
“As I’ve mentioned with Bayern Insider previously, the South Korean international is on the list at United. They’re always looking at his situation at Bayern Munich.
“That said, Min-jae Kim is very clear at the moment that he wants to stay at Bayern and he’s fine with his current role at the club. He’s not in the starting XI at the moment, but he has a chance to get there if he’s playing well and, of course, if injuries strike.
“So, Kim wants to see if he can push back into the team. It’s not like he’s so disappointed that he wants to force a move, and this is a very good situation for Bayern Munich, as they’re fully aware they can’t rely on just two senior centre-backs for an entire season.
“Having a player like Kim available is critical if they want to go far in all competitions – especially in the Champions League.”
United have so far signed Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos this summer, but they could probably do with bringing in one or two more players.
Kim would have been a good option for MUFC in defence, but that looks like a non-starter for now.
