Jordan Love lands at No. 6 on PFF’s ranking of 2026 starting QBs

It’s the offseason, which also means it’s list season. One of the latest lists that will intrigue Green Bay Packers fans comes from Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus, who ranked all 32 starting quarterbacks ahead of the 2026 season.

Jordan Love came in at No. 6 overall, placing him just outside the elite tier.

Here’s what Wasserman and Chadwick wrote about Love:

Love took a big step forward in 2025, combining efficiency with consistency. He led all qualified quarterbacks in EPA per dropback (0.222), while his 88.7 PFF passing grade and 2.97 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) both ranked among the league’s top three.

The Packers quarterback was particularly impressive when pressure was kept at bay, earning a 94.2 PFF passing grade from a clean pocket. He also continued to create explosive plays without putting the ball in harm’s way, pairing a 5.9% big-time throw rate (fifth) with a 2.6% turnover-worthy play rate (ninth).

Entering Year 4 as a starter, the conversation around Love has become something of a Rorschach test.

Some will look at PFF’s list and wonder how Love is ranked ahead of the likes of Justin Herbert, Jayden Daniels, and two recent Super Bowl champions in Jalen Hurts and Sam Darnold.

When he first took the reins in 2023, he threw for over 4,100 yards with 36 total touchdowns (4 rushing), helping upset the two-seeded Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card Round and leading Green Bay to the brink of the NFC Championship Game. Over the last two seasons, Love’s availability and production have taken a hit. Injuries limited Love to 15 starts in both 2024 and 2025. As a result, he didn’t eclipse 3,400 passing yards or 25 passing touchdowns in either season, and the team went 0-2 in the playoffs.

Yet, despite the Packers’ lack of postseason success the past two years, advanced analytics show Love has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL during that span.

PFF pointed out that Love was exceptional when operating from a clean pocket. However, when he was under pressure last season, he finished 37th of 44 qualifying quarterbacks in completion percentage and 38th in yards per attempt. That appears to be something Love is trying to improve upon this offseason.

“For me, my biggest thing I’ve noticed since I’ve gotten back is my feet in the pocket,” Love said during mandatory minicamp. “Trying to be as smooth, as consistent as possible. When I go through my read, getting into my hitches, not getting antsy. Not trying to move through the pocket too fast, but just staying calm, staying relaxed, move through my reads. If I have to move around the pocket, keeping those movements tight and not running into where guys might be peeling off and able to hit you. Just really trying to focus on my feet, my pocket movements, I think all those things are tied into accuracy and the timing of routes. Just trying to be dialed in as possible.”

Love has already established himself as one of the NFL’s better quarterbacks. If he can become more efficient when the pocket collapses, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him enter the conversation for the league’s Most Valuable Player.
