Johanna Rytting Kaneryd suffers ACL injury shortly after OL Lyonnes move

OL Lyonnes have announced that new signing Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

The Swedish international joined the club from Chelsea on a three-year deal earlier this summer but will likely have to wait until the 2027/28 season before making her debut for the club.

The French side announced that Rytting Kaneryd sustained the injury during training and will now require surgery that will keep her out of action for several months.

“The club wishes to offer her its full support and will accompany her throughout her rehabilitation,” a statement said.

The news is also a blow for Sweden of the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil with the team set to face Lithuania in the first of their play-offs to be played in October.
