Joe Burrow’s comments are still getting nasty spins

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow went out of his way to shut down media and fan narratives about his future with the franchise just before Week 1.

As we pointed out, not only was Burrow direct in his messaging, there was an important read-between-the-lines message within the statement

Just don’t tell some in the national media.

Burrow makes waves of impressions and views these days, so contrarian opinions about his latest comments were bound to pop up.

The first, it seems, comes from Danny Perkins on “First Things First” this week:

“If I’m a Bengals fan, I love it that he says, ‘I’m here for the long haul’ but I’d be terrified that he changes his mind.”@DannyParkins breaks down the timeline of Joe Burrow quotes: pic.twitter.com/TKqSMqiI8F

So, things are down to if, on the off chance, Burrow might change his mind at a later date.

Let it be a lesson to Bengals fans that even takes as flimsy as these will fly when Burrow is the topic. Best to save energy for fighting the important battles.

The good news? This is life with a superstar quarterback and one of the faces of the NFL, so Bengals fans should, funnily enough, sort of welcome this type of silly banter 365 days a year.
