João Cancelo training alone in Portugal as full-back awaits Barcelona move

João Cancelo has decided not to rejoin Al-Hilal’s squad and is training alone back home in Portugal as he awaits a resolution on his future and a permanent transfer to Barcelona to become reality.

Cancelo was due to travel to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday but was not present with the squad, and shared images of his workot with a personal trainer on social media. There is no confirmation yet if his absence was excused by his current club.

Al-Hilal and Barça are in talks to reach agreement on a permanent transfer for the Portugal international, who is eager to sign a long-term contract with the Blaugrana.

Cancelo became an undisputed starter at left-back after returning to Barça on a short-term loan last January, and Hansi Flick approved his permanent signing this summer.
