Jigawa university secures NUC approval for 30 new academic programmes

Yahaya added that Science Laboratory Technology had also received approval, with specialisations in Biology Technology and Biochemistry Technology.

At postgraduate level, the university secured approval to offer postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees and doctoral programmes in Forestry and Wildlife, Accounting, Treasury and Finance, Banking and Finance, and Information Technology.

The NUC also approved master’s programmes in Banking and Finance, as well as Accounting and Finance.

Reacting to the development, Vice-Chancellor Gumel described the approval as a significant milestone in the university’s plan to expand its academic programmes.

He said the new courses were developed to respond to changing educational and societal needs, particularly in technology, science education and health-related fields.

According to Gumel, the expansion is intended to provide students with skills and knowledge relevant to contemporary workplace requirements and wider societal challenges.

He added that the initiative would help prepare FUD graduates for employment by aligning their academic training with current industry demands.
