Jets’ Breece Hall to undergo further testing after straining groin at Monday’s practice

The Jets had a bit of a scare during Monday’s practice.

Star running back Breece Hall was forced to leave the session early as he went down untouched while running after pulling in a swing pass in the open field.

Hall walked off slowly alongside trainers to the medical tent.

Head coach Aaron Glenn revealed later Monday morning that the 25-year-old strained his groin, and is set to undergo further evaluation.

The initial belief, though, is that the injury isn’t believed to be serious.

“I don’t think it’s a big deal, but I want to make sure I get the evaluation,” Glenn said. “The one thing with our players is they are honest with their injuries and if they can go they will, but we will try to be precautionary with a lot of those.”

It certainly isn’t a surprise hearing that the Jets will likely take the caution approach with Hall, as losing him for any amount of time would be a significant blow for their offense.

The 25-year-old, who signed a big-money three-year contract extension this offseason, is expected to handle the bulk of the carries for the group once again this year.

Hall is coming off a career-year in which he racked up 1,065 rushing yards.

If he were to be forced to the sideline, the Jets would likely have to lean on third-year back Braelon Allen, who had a 31-yard touchdown run in Friday night’s preseason opener.
