Jersey Bulls Women lost a league game for the first time in their history as they went down 3-0 at Sutton United Under-23s.

The islanders were playing in the Surrey Premier Division of the South East Counties Women’s Football League for the first time after winning every game on their way to promotion last season.

The island side had a perfect record as they won the league’s Surrey Division One last term in their first season in the English football pyramid.

But they found the step up in level tough as they lost for the second successive game, having been beaten in the FA Cup last week.

After a goalless first half the hosts took the lead within three minutes of the restart when Rachel Marlow flicked on a free kick.

It was 2-0 soon after when Neriyah Anderson-Bailey scored from the edge of the box after a corner before Maya Anderson wrapped up the win.

Jersey Bulls travel to Oxted and District, who have drawn and lost their opening two games, next week.
