Jaylen Brown is preparing to face the Boston Celtics for the first time since his departure, and the former Celtics star has an unusual way of describing the reunion.

During a Friday Twitch livestream, Brown compared seeing his former team to unexpectedly running into an ex-girlfriend, acknowledging the history between them while recognizing that life moves on.

“It’s like running into your ex out in public. Like, damn, we used to go together,” Brown said. “You just look at them and just be like, damn. And then you just gotta go about your business.”

Brown spent his first nine NBA seasons with Boston, helping the franchise win the 2024 NBA championship before moving on to Philadelphia. Now, he will face his former teammates in a preseason matchup between the 76ers and Celtics.

Despite the unusual comparison, Brown also expressed excitement about the matchup, making it clear he is ready to move forward with his new team.

“It is what it is, man. But no, I’m super excited,” Brown said.
