Jayden Reed injury update from Packers wide receiver's fiancée

For Aneisha Cox, fiancée of Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed, she understands that injuries can strike at any moment on the football field.

“Unfortunately, it’s a matter of when, not if,” Cox said in a video on her TikTok this week.

And, unfortunately for Reed, it happened again.

And all Cox could do was look on with a helpless feeling from her home in Wisconsin as she was nearly 1,000 miles away.

“I was supposed to go to the game,” she said, before deciding on that Friday to stay home.

So after Reed went down, Cox, who was the 2025 Miss Wisconsin USA, looked for the quickest flight out of Appleton where a connecting flight via Detroit would land her in New York.

In the video three days after the injury, Cox provided an update on the Packers‘ fourth-year wide receiver.

“Jayden is doing very good,” Cox said, while adding it’s “100% a day-by-day type of recovery.”

Cox is appreciative to everyone who has reached out in support.

“We greatly appreciate all of the prayers and kind messages,” she said. “We feel it all.”

Jayden Reed took a bubble screen on the Packers’ second play of the game on a second and 11 from their 28-yard line for what looked like a routine play.

Reed continued to be tended to by trainers for what later was revealed to be a neck injury.

Reed, 26, is in his fourth NFL season, all with the Packers. He’s a former second round pick out of Michigan State.

After several minutes, Jayden Reed was put on a stretcher and cart.

It’s the second consecutive season that Reed has suffered a serious injury in a Week 2 game.

Reed broke his collarbone last season on Sept. 11, forcing him to miss 10 games from Weeks 3 through 13. He didn’t return until Week 14 on Dec. 7.

Reed was later to a hospital.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game that Reed has movement in all his extremities and was staying overnight in New York for further testing and observation.

It was a frightening scene as Jayden Reed was carted off the field early in the Packers’ 20-17 overtime win over the Jets.

While the extend of his injury is still to be determined, Reed posted on X that he’s “doing much better, appreciate all the prayers and support.”

On the very next play, Green Bay Packers right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele (50) suffered a knee injury and stayed down on the MetLife Stadium turf.

Zach Bako-Bewele also had to be carted off.

After the game, LaFleur said the injury to his top offensive lineman “doesn’t look good.”

“I think he could be out for a long time,” the coach added.

After the game, second-year lineman Anthony Belton called Zach Bako-Bewele a “big heartbeat of our room and a guy we all lean on.”

Belton will now likely be replacing Bako-Bewele at right tackle for the foreseeable future.

Bako-Bewele has spent his entire career with the Packers after being a fourth-round pick in 2022. He received a four-year, $88 million contract extension in July 2025.

Reed sustained the injury during the Packers’ first offensive possession two plays into the game. He caught a bubble screen and then as he made his way up field he was met with a hit.

He stayed down and the Packers’ medical staff quickly tended to him. Reed was loaded onto a stretcher and eventually taken to the back on a cart.

Reed’s long-term prognosis isn’t clear.

Not long after the game ended, Reed first provided an update on his X account:

“Doing much better, appreciate all the prayers and support,” he wrote.

But Reed did not travel back with the team after the game. He stayed overnight in New York for further evaluation.

LaFleur isn’t sure if Reed will return this season.

“It’s way too early for that right now,” LaFleur said. “He’s just got a lot. There’s a lot going on.”

Reed missed a large portion of last season with a broken collarbone, an injury that also happened in the team’s second game.

In addition to Reed, the Packers are down wide receiver Savion Williams, who is opening the season on the physically unable to perform list.

Led by quarterback Jordan Love, the Green Bay Packers’ 53-man roster is set.

The team had to have the roster finalized by 5 p.m. Aug. 30.

Love is entering his seventh year in Green Bay and fourth as the starting quarterback.
