Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White has faced a plethora of criticism over her handling of WNBA players before the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

However, according to Jason Whitlock, White has redeemed herself during her time as an assistant coach for Team USA under Kara Lawson.

Jason Whitlock still wants to see Stephanie White’s Team USA version on Indiana Fever

As an assistant coach, White played a solid role in Team USA winning its fifth straight gold medal at the tournament.

Whitlock, who has heavily criticized White over her coaching techniques in the WNBA, threw a backhanded compliment at her after Team USA’s success.

“I’m no fan of Steph White. But I have no problem giving her credit when she’s right. She did a great job with Team USA,” Whitlock said on X.

He added, “And we should all reevaluate her methods with the Fever. I still don’t like the way she defended non-Fever players and her little tantrum.”

Whitlock was unclear about which methods of White on Team USA he loved, but he’s certain she needs to bring the same energy for Fever players.
