James Bond Returns To Franchise For New 007 Thriller On November 17
It’s been five years since Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond in 2021’s No Time to Die, and the search for his replacement is finally nearing its conclusion. After Craig’s enormously successful five-film run, Amazon MGM Studios has faced the difficult task of finding a new actor capable of carrying one of cinema’s most iconic franchises into its next era.
Recent reports suggest that the studio has narrowed its search to a handful of contenders, with actors like Callum Turner, Slow Horses star Jack Lowden, and Josh O’Connor reportedly emerging as potential frontrunners. With Denis Villeneuve attached to direct the next installment, there’s plenty of excitement surrounding 007’s eventual return to theaters.
Fortunately, James Bond fans won’t have to wait for a new movie to see the legendary secret agent back in action, as 007 is officially returning on November 17, 2026, in a brand-new thriller.
James Bond is officially returning on November 17 with the US release of King Zero, a brand-new 007 thriller from bestselling author Charlie Higson featuring Ian Fleming’s James Bond. Published by Blackstone Publishing, the novel originally debuted in the UK on September 24, meaning British readers have already had nearly two months to enjoy Bond’s latest adventure.
Higson is certainly no stranger to the franchise, having previously written the enormously popular Young Bond novels, beginning with SilverFin in 2005. He also penned the 2023 novella On His Majesty’s Secret Service, although King Zero marks his first full-length adult James Bond novel.
The story brings 007 firmly into the modern era, confronting him with threats that would have been almost unimaginable during Ian Fleming’s original novels. According to the official synopsis, the adventure begins with the mysterious murder of a British intelligence agent in the Saudi Arabian desert, apparently involving a weapon unlike anything MI6 has previously encountered.

With evidence suggesting that it was someone on the inside, Bond embarks on an international investigation that exposes a much larger conspiracy. Along the way, he runs into a mysterious new adversary with serious power and influence, and there are potentially catastrophic consequences for the entire world.
Fortunately, early reactions to King Zero have been overwhelmingly positive. The novel became an instant Sunday Times bestseller following its UK launch, while The Times selected it as the Thriller of the Month for September 2026.
The Telegraph also praised Higson’s ability to bring Bond into the modern era while keeping true to the franchise’s trademark action-adventure style, and acclaimed thriller writer M.W. Craven praised the book’s memorable new villain. Even former James Bond actor George Lazenby has publicly endorsed the novel, calling it an “excellent read.”
You can pre-order King Zero in the US via Amazon James Bond Returns To Franchise For.
American readers can currently preorder King Zero in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook formats, with the latter narrated by Peter Serafinowicz. All three are scheduled for release on November 17.
While fans are understandably eager for Amazon MGM Studios to finally announce Daniel Craig’s successor, there’s still no confirmed release date for the next James Bond movie. Fortunately, King Zero is an excellent way to tide fans over, delivering a complete new 007 adventure while anticipation continues building for the franchise’s cinematic future.
