Jalen Williams reminisces on OKC's 2025 NBA Finals Game 7 win

In the boredom of the dog days of summer, Jalen Williams is turning to nostalgia to fill the time. It’s August, which means we’re in the slow part of the NBA’s year-round calendar. All of the offseason moves are done. Now, we’re just waiting on the 2026-27 season to get things going.

Williams hopes to have a bounce-back year. Injuries limited him to 33 regular-season games and only two entire NBA playoff games this past year. He was plagued by two wrist surgeries and four hamstring strains that basically cost him a whole campaign of his prime.

The last time Williams was healthy? The Oklahoma City Thunder won the NBA championship. Alongside that, he enjoyed a breakout year as a first-time All-NBA, All-Star and All-Defense member. He took to social media to recently reminisce about that time. He posted a photo of himself watching OKC’s Game 7 win over the Indiana Pacers in the 2025 NBA Finals. I’m assuming that’s a fan-favorite game to replay.

After some roster changes, the Thunder are banking on Williams to return to being one of the league’s top players. His ascension into being a Gen Z Scottie Pippen is one of the big reasons why OKC ascended to the NBA throne. Alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren becoming some of the game’s top names.

The Thunder fell five wins short of their back-to-back ambitions. Williams’ injuries finally cost OKC in the Western Conference Finals. Now, the 2026-27 year will be about returning to the mountaintop as co-favorites — with the San Antonio Spurs — to bring home the Larry O’Brien.
