Jalen Ramsey had high praise for Christian Gonzalez before jersey swap

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey showed love to New England Patriots’ star Christian Gonzalez after the two teams’ Week 2 matchup concluded.

After the game, Ramsey approached Gonzalez on the field, congratulating him for the historic contract extension that he signed earlier this year and agreeing to do a jersey swap after.

“You earned every penny of that,” Ramsey said to Gonzalez while the two embraced.

The moment paired one of the league’s most accomplished cornerbacks in Ramsey—a former Super Bowl champion and three-time first-team All-Pro—with one of its brightest young stars in Gonzalez—a second-team All-Pro from 2024—after the intense matchup between the two rival teams.

Earlier this month, Gonzalez signed a four-year, $135 million extension to remain with New England. The agreement included $96.3 million in guaranteed money and made him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

Gonzalez recorded four tackles and two passes defensed in New England’s 20-3 win over Pittsburgh. Ramsey finished with five tackles for the Steelers.
