Jacob Misiorowski gem, Cubs' loss to Braves clinches NL Central for Brewers

With the NL Central title on the line, the Milwaukee Brewers had their Cy Young hopeful ace on the mound Tuesday night.

Jacob Misiorowski delivered with another gem, throwing seven strikeouts in five shutout innings to lead the Brewers to a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Not long after, the Atlanta Braves rallied for a 6-3 win over the Chicago Cubs that eliminated the Cubs from the division race and clinched the title for the Brewers.

The Brewers will next seek to clinch the No. 1 seed in the National League in their quest to secure the franchise’s first World Series championship.

The Brewers leave Tuesday night at 94-57, two games ahead of the 92-59 Los Angeles Dodgers in the race for the best record in the NL with 11 games remaining in the regular season. They also hold a tiebreaker advantage over the Dodgers thanks to a 4-3 advantage over Los Angeles in their regular-season matchups.
