‘It’s troubling’ – Ojudu questions NANS’ silence amid mass abduction of students

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former presidential media aide, Babafemi Ojudu, has questioned the silence by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, amid the mass abduction of students across the country.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, the APC chieftain lamented that students and even schoolchildren are being abducted by bandits but the student association remains silent.

“What happened to the organization that once stood as the conscience of Nigerian students? When did it become so detached from the fears and aspirations of those it was created to represent?

“These are truly troubling times. A nation where students no longer find their voice in the face of such existential threats should worry us all.

“When students stop speaking for students, who then speaks for the future?”, he asked.

Ojudu noted that students in other countries including India “are on the streets protesting examination leakages and the scourge of unemployment”, while their Nigerian counterparts keeps mum on the security and economic crisis in the country.
