It's Officially The End Of An Era For Street Fighter At The Box Office
2026’s Street Fighter, which was directed and co-written by Kitao Sakurai, is the third-live action movie to adapt the video game franchise of the same name. The movie stars Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li opposite a star-studded cast that includes Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Orville Peck, Don Lee, 50 Cent, David Dastmalchian, and Jason Momoa. After debuting on October 16 and earning the best domestic opening weekend of the franchise, the movie cratered in week 2 with a 72.1% drop and was removed from 750 theaters in week 3.
Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, Street Fighter is projected to not only drop out of the domestic Top 5 for the first time but drop out of the Top 10 entirely. It spent its first three weekends at No. 1, No. 4, and No. 5, but an influx of new releases has pushed it out, including Godzilla Minus Zero (No. 1 this weekend), The Cat in the Hat (No. 2), and Angel Studios’ historical drama Drummer Boy (No. 3).
The movies that have beaten it range from the KJ Apa-led Jimmy Stewart biopic Jimmy at a projected $2.2 million to Godzilla Minus Zero at a projected $32 million.
Because of this preponderance of new releases, many holdover titles have been pushed out of the Top 10, including the Blumhouse Atomic Monster horror movie Other Mommy (during its fifth weekend), the Zach Cregger horror movie Resident Evil (during its eighth), and the Brad Pitt survival movie Heart of the Beast (during its seventh). However, the new Street Fighter movie is the youngest major release to depart the chart, as the buzzy Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything, which debuted on the same weekend, remains in the Top 5, holding onto a spot at No. 4.
Below, see the full projected Top 10 domestic chart for the weekend, including the week of release for each title:
This may not be a good sign for Street Fighter, as the movie has yet to turn a profit in theaters. Its substantial reported budget of $82 million most likely means that it needs to earn $205 million in order to break even. However, its cumulative global gross was less than $95 million ahead of its fourth weekend, and it is continuing to slow down as its run proceeds.
Street Fighter reviews have not been helpful. Critics have so far given it a disappointing score of 41% on Rotten Tomatoes, and while verified audience members have given it a superior 78%, that does not seem to be translating to strong word of mouth.

Street Fighter will also be facing off against some tough competition soon. Major upcoming movies that are targeting a similar demographic include the buzzy crime movie How to Rob a Bank (out November 13), the young adult dystopian adaptation The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (out November 20), and the holiday action-comedy Violent Night 2 (out December 4). All of these titles will serve to push the video game movie out of more and more theaters, making it less likely that it could break even.
