Singer Skales has lauded his female colleagues, saying it is not easy to be a woman in the Nigerian music industry.

The ‘Shake Body’ crooner gave the commendation amid a viral podcast interview by female singer Fave, in which she highlighted the struggles of female artistes in the music industry.

On his X handle on Thursday, Skales wrote, “Big up all the females in the entertainment industry … it ain’t easy being a woman in this industry … big up to y’all for real.”

Earlier, on the Afropolitan podcast, Fave claimed that it is more difficult for female artistes to succeed in the music industry because they are judged not only by their talent but also by their sex appeal.

She also claimed that she, Tems and Ayra Starr changed the perception of female artistes in the Afrobeats scene.

“When Tems, I and Ayra Starr came into the scene, we came with different voices that were different from the very feminine voice people were used to. Before us, female artistes used to sing in a very feminine way,” she claimed.
