ISWAP suffers major blow as troops ambush, neutralise terrorist in Yobe

Troops of the 120 Task Force Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, have neutralised a terrorist and recovered weapons during an ambush operation in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

This was disclosed in a statement posted on X by counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama.

According to Makama, the operation took place at about 11 am on September 1, 2026, at Lamusuri in Gujba Local Government Area.

He said the troops and CJTF members successfully ambushed the terrorists during the operation, neutralising one of the attackers.

The security expert further revealed that the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, two additional magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one body pouch.

“The recovered weapons and ammunition have been taken into military custody for further action.

“The operation forms part of sustained efforts by troops of Operation HADIN KAI to disrupt terrorist activities and prevent armed groups from establishing freedom of movement across Yobe State,” he said.
