New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez will be playing in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.

This news comes after the star defensive back agreed to a four-year, $135 million contract extension late Monday night, making him the highest-paid corner in the NFL. It’s a move that helped solidify the Patriots‘ secondary by ensuring that their top defensive player is fully committed and in the fold.

Gonzalez had a tremendous game against the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. He recorded four total tackles and three pass deflections, while also allowing only 36 total yards of offense on his side of the field. He also helped hold the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, to four catches for 27 yards.

The Patriots are hoping for a repeat performance in Wednesday’s rematch.
