Is Georgia RB Nate Frazier playing at Alabama? Latest injury update

· · 2 min read

Georgia Bulldogs star running back Nate Frazier has missed back-to-back Georgia wins against the Oklahoma Sooners and Vanderbilt Commodores. However, Frazier is expected to play in Week 6 against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Frazier orignally suffered a ribs injury during the Bulldogs’ win over the Arkansas Razorbacks back in Week 3. Frazier exited that game early and did not return.

Frazier is not listed on the SEC’s availability report before Georgia’s 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Oct. 10 against Alabama. Frazier’s return is critical because Georgia is without running back Chauncey Bowens, who filled in as Georgia’s starter with Frazier out. Bowens leads Georgia in rushing touchdowns and is the Bulldogs’ top power back.

Speedster Dwight Phillips has emerged and will play the majority of snaps that Frazier missed. Georgia is also expected to feature Bo Walker, who projects as Georgia’s No. 3 running back. The Bulldogs are also without Dante Dowdell, a Kentucky transfer, who was seriously injured this offseason in an ATV accident.

Frazier is not listed on the SEC availability report, which will be updated 90 minutes before kickoff. Frazier was able to dress for the last two games, but did not play.

Frazier has 26 carries for 211 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns this season. Frazier has one rushing touchdown in every game he has played in this season. Frazier has just one reception for five yards this season.

Georgia is without Chauncey Bowens, who has 35 carries for 124 rushing yards and six touchdowns this season. Bowens posted over 100 rushing yards in last year’s regular season game against Alabama. In receiving situations, look for Dwight Phillips (seven receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown) to get a lot of looks.
