Every IPL trade update ahead of the 2027 mini-auction
Franchises across the Indian Premier League are inching closer to finalising their retention lists for the 2027 season, with the mini-auction scheduled for December.
Before that auction window opens, several teams are expected to explore trade routes first, swapping players outright or settling deals purely in cash, as a quicker way to patch up squad gaps before bidding even begins.
Over the years, several marquee names, including Hardik Pandya, Robin Uthappa and Cameron Green, have switched franchises through trade deals rather than the auction table. Pandya’s switch from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians remains the benchmark example of how dramatic these moves can get.
With that history in mind, here’s where things currently stand on both confirmed and rumoured trades heading into the 2027 cycle.

Delhi and Lucknow pull off a major swap
The biggest move so far has already been signed off by the IPL governing council, a direct swap between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants.
Rishabh Pant makes his way back to Delhi, the franchise where he spent nine seasons and featured in 111 matches between 2016 and 2024.
He joins DC at a reworked salary of INR 15 crore, a sharp drop from the INR 27 crore LSG had paid to sign him at the 2025 mega auction.
Going the other way, left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav exits Delhi after a five-year stint to link up with Lucknow, retained at his existing price tag of INR 13.50 crore.
Because the two salaries don’t match up exactly, the swap also shifts purse space between the franchises, with LSG picking up roughly INR 13.75 crore in extra room while DC loses close to INR 1.25 crore to fund Pant’s revised deal.

Major player trade rumours before IPL 2027 mini auction
1. Could Hardik Pandya be on the move again?
While the DC-LSG swap is done and dusted, attention has now turned to growing chatter around Hardik Pandya’s future at Mumbai Indians. Reports suggest Kolkata Knight Riders have reached out to MI’s management to gauge interest in a possible trade, while Rajasthan Royals are also said to be circling.
