Iowa football adds Ohio DL to 2027 recruiting class
Following an official visit with Iowa football this weekend, the Hawkeyes have landed a commitment from 2027 three-star defensive lineman Bariyus Allen, who announced his decision on X on June 7.
The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder out of Belmont High School in Dayton, Ohio, is listed as the No. 612 overall prospect, No. 74 defensive lineman, and No. 23 recruit in the state, according to 247Sports’ 2027 Composite.
Allen’s was offered by the Hawkeyes on June 5 during his visit and chose Iowa over Boston College, Kent State, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, Western Kentucky, and a handful of other potential suitors

Allen finished his junior season with 73 tackles, 20.5 tackles for a loss, six sacks, and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Dayton Public Schools. He was also selected to the 2025 Division II All-Ohio Football Third Team, while also playing a handful of snaps at tight end and offensive tackle this past season.
Per his HUDL, Allen has posted a 4.9 40-yard dash, a 500-pound deadlift, and a 12.5 100-meter dash, which demonstrates excellent explosiveness and athleticism for a tackle listed at his size.
Allen is the third defensive lineman commit in the 2027 class for the Hawkeyes, joining three-star prospects Tommy Riordan and Jerrence Knoblock, as Iowa defensive line coach Kelvin Bell looks to bolster the program’s future defensive front.
