The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, have threatened to embark on industrial action over worsening insecurity in the country.

The two labour unions issued the warning during a joint media briefing on the sidelines of the ongoing 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

They said if the worsening wave of terrorism, banditry and kidnappings across the country continues unabated, they will embark on a comprehensive strike.

The labour unions dismissed claims by some state governors that negotiations were ongoing with workers on a proposed N100,000 minimum wage.

They insisted that such assertions did not reflect the current realities of discussions on workers’ welfare.

DAILY POST reports that insecurity has increased across the country in recent times with the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State as the latest incident.
