Independence Anniversary: US Mission announces closure of Abuja, Lagos offices

The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos has announced plans to close for Nigeria’s Independence Day holiday.

The US Mission disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Friday.

The post read, “The US Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will not be open for business on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in observance of Nigeria Independence Day holiday.”

Recall that the Federal Government had declared Thursday, October 1, 2026, a public holiday for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
