In an offseason full of WR deals, Puka Nacua is still waiting for his

Receivers around the NFL have been getting paid this offseason, including deals for Drake London, Christian Watson, Rashid Shaheed, and others. However, Nacua has yet to sign his extension, and the Rams appear content to keep things as they are.

Perhaps it’s Nacua’s off-field behavior that’s giving them pause. Perhaps. But that’s a bridge the Rams are going to have to cross at some point soon. Regardless of how they feel, they would be in a bad spot if they choose to franchise tag Nacua next year and to prevent any risk of losing him to free agency. Maybe it’s because they don’t believe another deal will be done that pushes the market up before Nacua’s due to get his.

Perhaps it’s not about Nacua at all. There is no replacing Nacua and if the Rams really had concerns about his future, A.J Brown or Makai Lemon would be in Los Angeles.

The Rams just set Myles Garrett up to finish his career in Los Angeles, and Trent McDuffie seems to be on the same path. Both Quentin Lake and Kam Curl are tied to the organization for the next three seasons. That’s a lot of liquid cash to dish out in such a short time, even with a billionaire owner such as Stan Kroenke. The Rams also extended Matthew Stafford, giving him one of the best contracts in the NFL for the 2027 season – should he continue playing.

It’s an odd situation. In my opinion, if Nacua makes it to training camp without an off-field issue, he’ll sign his deal then. If the Rams allow Nacua to enter the season without a deal in hand, they will risk costing themselves millions, as Nacua is bound for another massive season.

It’s just interesting that teams around the NFL are paying their pass catchers, but arguably the league’s best remains without his rightfully deserved deal.
