'I'm going to do': Paul George says there's only one thing he cares about right now with the Boston Celtics
Paul George is having a fine debut season with the Boston Celtics.
The veteran was traded to the Celtics by the Philadelphia 76ers, who swapped him for Jaylen Brown. That move has worked out really well for both teams.
George has averaged over 20 points per game so far this season, but he has now claimed that he doesn’t care about scoring anymore.
Instead, his full focus is on his biggest objective.
Paul George says he only cares about winning the NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics
George is in his 17th year in the NBA, having started his career with the Indiana Pacers in the 2010-11 season.
The now-36-year-old has always been highly regarded, but despite his longevity, he has never even come close to winning an NBA Championship Ring.
George wants to change that now after helping the Boston Celtics go 5-1 this season, with their most recent win coming against the Orlando Magic on Sunday night.
The veteran made it clear in an interview after the game that he no longer cares about scoring points or amassing individual statistics. All he is interested in now is winning the championship.
He told NBC Sports Boston: “At this point in my career, year 17, that’s all I care about. I don’t care about scoring. I don’t care about whatever it is. It’s all about winning.
“I’m going to do whatever I can to win, leave it all on the floor for these guys, give ourselves a chance to win. That’s all that matters. I’ve done it all, I’ve seen it all, I’ve been there and done that. I’m yet to win. That’s the one thing I’m seeking.”
The Celtics are definitely not the favourites to go all the way from the East. Many people think it will be George’s old team, the 76ers, who will do it.
However, with Jayson Tatum firing and George himself impressing, they could surprise people and go the distance if they keep improving in the coming months.
