Ikorodu LG awards bursaries to 200 tertiary students

The chairman also linked the local government’s human capital development efforts to the broader objectives of the Federal Government.

The administration said its focus on education and skills development was aimed at creating opportunities for young people while strengthening the human capital base of Ikorodu.

The bursary presentation therefore formed part of a wider set of programmes being highlighted by the council as it marked the first year of the current administration.

Ladega Urges Beneficiaries to Remain Focused

Addressing the beneficiaries, Ladega urged the students to remain committed to their studies and make productive use of the opportunity provided through the bursary scheme.

He encouraged them to maintain academic focus and recognise the importance of their education to their individual futures as well as the development of their communities.

The chairman said the council’s investment in students was intended to support their educational journey and contribute to the development of young people capable of making meaningful contributions to Ikorodu and society at large.

The event was attended by council officials, education stakeholders, community leaders, parents, student representatives and beneficiaries.

The presentation also provided an opportunity for the local government to reaffirm its commitment to education as a key component of its development agenda.

For the 200 beneficiaries, the bursary represents direct financial support toward their tertiary education, while the council said the initiative forms part of its continuing efforts to reduce barriers to education and strengthen human capital development within Ikorodu.

Ladega reiterated that the administration would continue to prioritise programmes that support education, youth development and skills acquisition as part of its broader development agenda for the local government.
