The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has said leadership requires taking harsh decisions and not always on the nice side.

Shettima said “if you want to be a nice man you can go and sell ice cream.”

He made the remark while defending the economic policies of the Tinubu administration.

The Vice President said this on Monday at the Lagos State investment summit.

“If you want to be a nice man, you can go and sell ice cream, but leadership requires you to take very harsh decisions,” Shettima said.

He also praised Lagos State as the economic gateway not only to Nigeria, but to the entire West African sub-region, saying the state provides access to capital, talents, resources and opportunities.

According to Shettima, the macroeconomic policies of the Tinubu government are targeted at restoring market confidence and improving fiscal sustainability.

He noted that President Tinubu has taken the bullet for making critical decisions because the administration understands that the economy the country deserves can’t be built on illusions.
