IDF confirms killing of Hamas Khan Younis brigade commander
The Israel Defense Forces, IDF, has confirmed the death of Muhammad Abdul Salam al-Yazouri, commander of Hamas’ Khan Younis Brigade, in an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza.
The military, in a joint statement with the Shin Bet security agency, said the strike was carried out in Khan Younis overnight and targeted Hamas operatives.
According to the statement, al-Yazouri played a role in planning and advancing dozens of attacks against Israeli troops, as well as efforts to rebuild Hamas’ operational capabilities.
The IDF also said two other Hamas members were killed in the same strike. They were identified as Hudhaifa Muammar, described as a company commander, and Muhammad Bahjat Radi.
The announcement follows an earlier claim by Hamas that al-Yazouri had been killed in the strike.
