IBEDC announces power outage in several Osun communities
The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, has announced power outages in several communities across Osogbo, Osun State.
The announcement is coming following reported damage to a high-tension electricity pole and ongoing technical work on two electricity feeders.
The power company disclosed this in separate notices issued by its Osun Region on Saturday, informing customers about disruptions to electricity supply in affected areas.
According to IBEDC, “a broken high-tension pole at Biket Junction, opposite Fresh FM in Osogbo, had affected the Ota Efun/NCC 11kV feeder, resulting in a power outage in several communities.”
The electricity distribution company listed the affected communities as “Saibu Gomina, Iyana Camp, Ota Efun I and II, Ayekale I, II, III and IV, Webisco, Abidogun I, II and III, Bucom, Kobo I, II, III and IV, Kobongboe, Ayegbami, Alatori and Modogbon.”
In another notice, IBEDC announced that technical work being carried out on the NCC 11kV feeder had also affected electricity supply on the SRM 33kV feeder.
The company identified the affected locations under the second notice as Biket Area, Ota Efun, Kobo, Dagbolu, Osogbo and their surrounding communities.
IBEDC explained that the outages were connected to the damaged electricity infrastructure and the technical activities being undertaken on the affected feeders.
The company, however, assured customers that its technical team was working to restore electricity supply, stating that efforts were ongoing to address the problems responsible for the disruptions.
It also apologised to residents and other affected customers for the inconvenience caused by the outages, appealing for their understanding while repair and technical work continued.
However, IBEDC did not announce a specific date or time for the restoration of electricity supply to the affected communities, leaving customers awaiting further updates from the distribution company.
