Ian Rapoport shares encouraging update on Aaron Donald's Week 2 status

The Los Angeles Rams are going into their Monday night matchup with the New York Giants down a man as reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett is heading to injured reserve, leaving him out of action for at least four games. The team did receive some good news, as another award-winner could be back this week.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Aaron Donald could be back for the Giants contest, and while the defensive lineman is still working through his process, “the hope” is that he’ll suit up after missing the season opener.

“My understanding is the hope is that he is out there Monday night,” said Rapoport.

On Monday, Rams head coach Sean McVay was asked if Donald will play, and he reiterated the usual message that a decision hasn’t been made and the star defender is working through his process. Donald is set to speak to the media later this week on Friday.

If Donald doesn’t play against the Giants, the next home game he’ll have isn’t until October 12th, as they play in Denver and at Philadelphia in Weeks 3 and 4.
