‘I want to be part of the future success’ – Guehi says Man City players ‘calm’ over financial charges verdict
Marc Guehi says Manchester City’s players have remained calm and united after the club were found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules.
The defender revealed the squad were informed immediately of the findings from the independent commission, and says there has been no panic inside the group, with the club still appealing the verdict.
“The club notified everyone straight away so we were pretty calm,” Guehi said.
“There were a lot of relaxed faces because we have a lot of trust and belief in the club and what’s been going on here.”
Guehi believes the situation has actually highlighted the togetherness within the squad.
“It’s been nice, it’s been good,” he said.
“We get to see a lot of togetherness. The team spirit has been really fantastic from every single person and player – especially the staff and the fans that are backing us.
“To be honest, it’s been great to see.”
The England international also stressed the importance of ignoring outside noise and concentrating on football.
“It can be very easy to listen to the noise and be affected by everything going on but I’m so happy to see the team spirit and everyone taking to what’s happening and just focusing on the football.”
Guehi also spoke warmly about his own experience at City and his desire to be part of the club’s future.
“Ever since I’ve got here they’ve been nothing but fantastic with me,” he said.
“The support that I’ve had with tough times on and off the pitch.
“I’m aware of the success the club has had and I want to be part of the future success.
“You get the sense from everyone at the football club that it’s a family club, people love one another.
“I can only talk from my experience.”
