‘I have to prove that I am ’: Christian Mbilli looks forward to marquee fight with Canelo Alvarez

Christian Mbilli gets his chance under the brightest of lights when he takes on Canelo Alvarez this Oct. 31st in Riyadh, and looking ahead to the fight DAZN takes fans behind the scenes of Mbilli’s training camp where he’s working to establish his name as an elite fighter.

“I am world champion right now, but I have to prove that I am ,” Mbilli would say. “And the thing is, many people know that the right now is Canelo and I have to beat Canelo to prove that I am the of the division.”

After a training session in the gym, Mbilli would take a little leisure time while admitting his admiration for Canelo despite now being the one who will be standing opposite of him inside the ring.

“I would say that I’m a big fan of Canelo. I start to watch his fights, I was like 15 years old. It was my beginning in boxing. I become a big fan when he fight Cotto…It was amazing fight.

“I want to put my name in the history of boxing. I need that people [remember] me like a big champ, like a big warrior, and in October I will have this opportunity and October I will take this opportunity and put my name in the history of boxing.”
