How would Amari Allen fit with the Boston Celtics?

The Boston Celtics will have plenty of options available when they’re on the clock with the 27th pick in the upcoming draft. Brad Stevens has found success picking in the late first round over the past two years. Both Baylor Scheierman and Hugo Gonzalez have emerged as important cogs within Joe Mazzulla’s rotation.

Amari Allen is among the list of players expected to be available within the Celtics’ range. Allen is coming off a strong rookie season in the college ranks, where he suited up for Alabama. In 32 games (24 as a starter), Allen averaged 11.4 points, 3.1 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game. He shot 55.6% from two-point range and 34.1% from deep on 4.3 threes per game.

The one problem Allen could face is that Boston’s forward rotation is already stacked. He would be staring at a difficult uphill battle to earn any minutes within Joe Mazzulla’s system. Of course, if he can prove himself to be a viable low-usage scorer, while also holding his own on defense, a role could open up as the season continues.
