The Nevada Wolf Pack (1-0) renew an old rivalry on Saturday night when they welcome the defending FCS champion Montana State Bobcats (2-0) to Mackay Stadium for their first meeting in 30 years.

Nevada comes off a 49-14 rout of visiting Western Kentucky last Saturday night as Dominic Kelley ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries to lead a ground attack that put up 323 yards and five scores. Carter Jones went 9-of-15 for 163 yards and two TDs with an interception while Donnie Cheers scored rushing and receiving touchdowns. Herschel Turner and Carter Jackson also found the end zone on the ground in the blowout.

Montana State, ranked No. 1 in the FCS Coaches Poll, won its 16th straight game last Saturday night, rolling to a 51-24 victory over visiting Butler. Justin Lamson threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns on 15-of-20 passing and also scored a rushing TD before Patrick Duchien added 93 passing yards and a score in mopup duty. Adam Jones went for 77 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries as well and Taco Dowler caught five balls for 97 yards and a score.

The Wolf Pack lead the Bobcats 12-6 in the all-time series, with the last meeting in September 1996. The teams were Big Sky Conference rivals for several years before Nevada jumped to college football’s top division in 1992. Nevada comes off a 3-9 record in 2025 while Montana State finished 14-2 after losing its first two games, beating Illinois State to capture the program’s second national title at the FCS level.
